spindles what is the differance between 37-41 41-48 spindles can 41-48 be used on a model a axle to mount hydl brakes

Re: spindles Later model spindles have larger (taller) bushings along with a different appearance. They will fit a Model A axle.

Re: spindles As rich b said, yes they can be used on a Model A axle, but be advised that the ‘37-‘41’s (also known as round backs) use a king pin 5 1/2” long and the ‘42-‘48 spindles (square back) take a 6” long k/p. You will want the correct k/p set for the spindles you choose.

Here's a picture I've posted a couple of times before that shows the differences that others have mentioned. Basically the 1942-48 version are beefier than the 1937-41 but otherwise interchangeable.

Re: spindles all that answered thanks for the great info

Re: spindles The later one have a generally square appearance, the 37-41 are commonly called roundback.
Would it be correct to assume the later ones wear more slowly due to the longer bushes? (Everything else being equal). Probably made longer to compensate for the vehicles getting heavier??? |
