instrument panel light With the bulb in the socket it is always on. Cover on or off makes no difference. I'd like to get it to work correctly so any suggestions will be appreciated. Regards, Bill

Re: instrument panel light How are they supposed to turn on/off?
Mine came on yesterday by itself for the first time. Do you push/pull/twist to turn it on & off? |
Re: instrument panel light A quarter turn to the right (CW) lites the bulb, it 'pushes' the unit in to make contact.
A turn back to the left (CCW) and it 'pops' out to kill the contact and turn the lite off. The cover can be fiddled with to get the light to shine down on the gas gauge and a little on the ammeter. The repops they tell me aren't very good quality, That is probably what you have. You may want to keep an eye out for an original they pop up from time to time or is that 'pop-out'???:) |
Re: instrument panel light I bought a repop for my 31 Tudor and it worked fine would switch on and off with no problem but after being on for 5 minutes the light unit was so hot you couldn't handle the switch bare handed. Spoke to dealer I bought it from and they stated they never heard of a problem before. Made an adapter from sheet of copper and installed a 6v led and all works great

Re: instrument panel light I wired mine so it comes on with the tail lights. Goes off when your headlight switch in in the 6 o'clock position, stays on with all other positions.
