What year of ford front fenders are interchagable with a 1950 ford custom?
 

I need to replace the front fenders on a 1950 ford custom 6 cylinder car. What year of ford front fenders will work for a 1950 ford custom?

49 to 51 fenders are interchangeable. there is some difference in the park light mounting holes. If you don't use 50 fenders you may have to re-work some of the holes

It is possible that the '49 thru '51 front fenders will mate to the cowl on your '50 however, there are many differences in the three production years that may make it difficult, if not impossible, to mate the hood, inner fenders, radiator supports, etc. I'd try to find another set of '50 front fenders to make the swap easier.

Many, many years ago, my first car was a '50 Custom. I had an accident and had to replace the front sheet metal (fenders/hood). The junk yard had a '49 and I took it home. Sadly, the hood hinge mechanism was quite different and when I was finished, I had to jury-rig the hood to the hinges.

What can I say, I was a teen-ager with no money!

This is great information. My fenders are still on the car. What would be the best way to identify a 1950 fender from a 1949 or 1951?

As mentioned above -- the parking lamp hole is a great reference.

In the past 39 years I've sold a lot of 1949-1951 front fenders both used and NOS and have never found any difference except for trim holes and the parking lite hole. The parts book lists them as 1949-1951. NOS fenders came from Ford with no trim or parking lite holes. Inner fenders change, hood hinges are different but the fenders are the same. I would like to know what anyone has found different in the 3 years of fenders except for trim holes, parking lite hole, and parking lite extension holes. I am willing to learn.

I agree with nospartsman. No difference except for the above mentioned trim and parking lite holes
