As a Merry Christmas from me, here is a little video I recorded showing the old fashioned way to post pics on the barn.

I'll show you:
What happens when the file is too big.
How to crop an image in Paint.
How to resize an image in Paint.
How to post that image to the Barn as a thumbnail.
How to post the thumbnail full size in the thread itself.
How to avoid text/image clashes.
An alternative way to get smaller images using Snip and Sketch.
How to post an image from elsewhere on the web.

If this is a tutorial on how to size pictures, then why is this picture over-size and does not fit within the forum perimeters ?

You're welcome.

It might not fit the parameters but it was accepted because the file size was small enough.

Glad you enjoyed the video.

Just a tip when using Paint to size photos.
Size by using the pixels horizontal function set to 700 pix.

Just resized the oversize pic from above using 700 pixels, in Paint, think it works.

Glad it worked although the response hasn't been at all what I expected.

Have I missed the mark with this?

Too hard? Too old fashioned? Not at all how it's done these days? Video quality not good enough? I'm a little baffled that not a single positive comment, or like or comment has been expressed.

Mart.

This is an example of the windows "snip and sketch" feature that I use to grab an image from a youtube video I like. You knew it would be a Merc didn't you?

Hey Mart,
Resizing an image is not an issue for me so I didn't watch the video. I applaud you for helping out those who have no experience.
I remember when my father was alive asking him to do that and it would be like asking him to land the space shuttle! Dealing with something mysterious called a "file" was not in the realm of what he understood.

Thanks fellas.

It's a funny thing. The barn guidance states the max size for attachments is 800 pixels wide. I used that for the shot of the coupe in front of my friend's house. It still made the margin of the thread bump out.

Don't forget guys, if you use the guidance for inserting the images in the thread itself, you can brag that you've been "Coding in HTML"!

Hi Everyone! Mart, you've done a very good thing!

I have a question and a tip for the readers.

How did you change the thread title?

Tip, the Manage Attachments is also available by using the paperclip after Go To Advanced.

Thanks dwick.

I am trying to get the videos up to an acceptable (and hopefully entertaining) standard.
