Door and trunk adjustments So I got a set of doors and a trunk for my 47 long door coupe and I'm having a couple of issues.
-First is the passenger door whenever I open it and leave it open I have to hike it up a bit to line it up to shut it. -Second is the decklid sits kind of low by the hinges and there's a noticeable gap by the bend on the same side. Is there a specific way to install these to line things up a bit better? |
Re: Door and trunk adjustments Can't help with the door problem.
As for the trunk, meticulously examine each hinge to check for "wearing" and patiently study the feel of each hinge to see if each hinge is exerting same "holding up" power on the deck lid. Also, check the places where the hinges mount for a broken weld or worn or cracked support bracket. It's a tedious process. You might need new hinges or perhaps the springs are weak and need more tension. |
Re: Door and trunk adjustments The door problem could be a loose or bent hinge or a worn hinge pin.

Re: Door and trunk adjustments Paul makes a good point. Also, is the bottom of the A pillar rusted out or cracked?

A couple of different things to try. Also the bottom bolts in the door can be loosened to allow bottom of door to be pulled out to raise it. Observe door gaps during process to determine which way the door has to be moved

Re: Door and trunk adjustments I had a couple of people mention using washers, but having a pic it makes more sense.
Does the trunk hinges have side to side adjustment I noticed that one of the hinges is loose like that. |
