Re: Distributer timing fixture I looked at the one on eBay and it looks like it’s missing the adapter plate for either two or three bolt. Distributor.

Re: Distributer timing fixture The metal box version is far superior to the wooden box version

Re: Distributer timing fixture I would suggest that you set the points at .015 - .016” clearance with a feeler gauge and establish TDC on the crank pulley using the hard stop method, which has been outlined in previous posts. With engine at idle you can set the initial timing 4 degrees ahead of TDC and watch the advance of the distributor as you increase the rpm of the engine, the latter you cannot do with the Timing Fixture. You can also add a pig tail about 8” long connected to the condenser coil terminal and terminated in a ball of solder on bare wire, with pig tail being zip tied to the ignition wire loom, being careful that the solder ball does not become grounded. Pigtail is handy to connect a dwell-tach. This is how I got around the Timing Fixture.

Re: Distributer timing fixture The wood box ones won't do later distributors unless it was sent back for updating, it is in the service bulletins about the difference
