Has any Fordor body owners had experience with body wood supplied by Classic Wood in NC?

I got a great top wood kit from them for my Tudor. Very little tweaking. That area of NC was the furniture capitol of the US before it all went off shore. I suspect some of the folks there are ex furniture workers.

I just bought the top ribs and some other pieces for my '30 Fordor from them. Excellent fit.

I just replaced the top wood on my 31 Tudor. I used the classic wood kit. The header, the rear corners and the top bows need to be sanded down a bit to fit properly. I used a small right angle air sander. It's not particularly difficult, but it is time consuming.
Les Andrews install instructions were very helpfull

How much difference do you suppose there is between fitting body wood in a Fordor, and top wood in a Tudor?

My Snap-On Racing cap is off to you, for having the SKILLS to do Fordor wood ! ! ! Pics I've seen are SCARY:eek:, looks as though you're building a SPANISH GALLEON !
Chief was NOT a wood person & only taught me how to drive a NAIL correctly. Momma had 2 Great Uncles that had a small furniture factory in N.C, but don't know much about them or where they Emigrated from:confused::confused: Only about 12 years ago, I found out I am 1/8 Pawnee Indian & when watchin' Old Western movies, I don't know whether to root for the INDIANS or the WHITE EYES????
I've commonly read that often, the wood parts are cut slightly larger, which is probably a GOOD thing.
Chief often said, "I've cut the danged thing off TWICE, & it's still too SHORT":( He DID teach me to nail up a board, first, THEN cut it to length!

Their's is best available as a direct supplier. You might email Brent directly about fordor wood. He has made wood and actually installed the wood. So, he knows the good, bad and ugly of fordor wood.

Again, Classic is best available from a wood supplier as such. They a re great guys and make a good product in many styles.

Best source is Ford archives as far I know. And you have to pay for them.
Probably need part numbers which is likely rediculously hard to find!

The price for all the wood prints will probably exceed the cost of a restored car.:eek:

Yes, to a certain extent that is very true. Most of the wood part #s I have found have been in the Body Parts Book. Knowing the correct Ford nomenclature is very helpful too! Also, there are some items like roof ribs that are interchangeable between bodies. (For example, the #2 Roof Rib on a Tudor might be the same as the #3 rib on a Fordor.)

I honestly foresee the day where we have the wood prints digitized and cut on a CNC router. I doubt the costs will be any cheaper but replicating, and making adjustments would be easier.

Back in the 60s, I made the wood for my 28 tudor myself using the old original wood as patterns. I still have the tudor.
