Re: what color is this (BOTH COLORS)

it's the gray version of Chicle & Copra.
there's also a greenish version and the most correct brown version.

at the 2003 MARC national meet there was one of each variation in fine point-
wonder who got the best paint score......

I would emphasize it appears to be one of several renditions of Chicle and Copra. To make it worse there is no way to know how the camera interpreted the light levels as well as the color interpretation of our computer monitors.

Both the gray and brown versions look nice,, to me anyway.. If I remember correctly I believe the brown version is for later year vehicles..

Not a dumb question I was wondering the same thing

Re: what color is this (BOTH COLORS)

The Chicle is the lighter and in almost all cases the lower body color. Copra obviously darker and upper body color.

If your intersested in factory painting information and color chips for the Model A you should get a copy of the Paint and Finish Guide 3rd Edition.

Use the MAFCA paint guide and get it scanned like I did. The PPG dealer was able to make it up from there. Worked well and a good colour match. BC/CC

Re: what color is this (BOTH COLORS)

It is my understanding from all the past posts on Chicle and Copra drab, that the gray color tones are not correct for any year. We have discussed that the error occurred when the PPG formulas went from either a lacquer to enamel or to urethanes. Is this fact or fiction? After the national meets this year everyone stated that Jay Pearcy's car was supposed to be very close to the proper color. His car is definately the brown version, and in some pictures looks very light. There were not various shades available of this color but all of the various shades are different people at different paint stores trying to hit the right color.
