"Diamond engine"
 

Took my '29 CCPU to Sam at Arizona Model A yesterday. Sam took a look at it and informed me that it has a "Diamond" engine, which, even though I've been messing with these since the early '60's I'd never heard of. When I got home I did some research and discovered a code of K107 on the engine side. That means that it was built on 1 November 1937! Wow. It also has a stamp from a rebuilder (no longer in business) from Utah. Then his Dad straightened out a slightly bent right front frame horn using a high-lift jack a tool that I don't have. Took 5 minutes! No charge! I'm a happy camper.
When I bought the truck the engine was stuck but I took a risk. Got it freed up after laying a smoke screen in the neighborhood from Marvel Mystery Oil and Kroil, and now it runs great except the Tillotson carb still leaks.

I've got a "diamond" as well in my 1931 CCPU. Mfg. date Aug. of '37.

Quickchange- Did you meet him when he took his A and friends to NZ? That must have been quite the neat trip. And yes, he's a very helpful nice guy. Best part is he's nearby! His Mom's always working.

Sammy's Model A knowledge is legendary and he is not backwards in sharing it. I've known him for quite a while now and he has been helpful right through. Sam and Bonnie too.

Got a '36 and 2 '37 B's .They have the latest revision done during production.Some,but not all have hardened exhaust valve seats. The diamond foundry mark has never been identified. Anything else is speculation.

neds 29 Yes i helped arrange the freight, also 5 of us organized the national tour,with others in each town, the touring group came to my place for bbq evening , etc , we know the touring group fairly well ,on the tour we had a disused horse race track for our speed event , thats when we learnt about Mitchell overdrives ??? enough said , we visit with Sammy, Ron, Joel, Dennis, & Dwayne, when ever over , you don,t find better folk ,

I have a diamond A engine also. Is there any internal differences between the stock A motor to the diamond A.

Its the last design revision a late '31design
Ford made a number of block revisions during production,the late 31 incorporated all of them...difference? No,more like the best.
