Ford Plant Tool Check brass tokens

I have a triangular Ford brass tool check token. It is marked FB933. Does the FB by any chance indicate which plan the token was issued by or were these letters used randomly? Thanks Lawson

Most of the tokens I've seen have the name of the Plant stamped on them as well >

If the system for tool tokens was anything like my former employer P&W Aircraft, the number on the token is specific to the employee who would be issued a number of identical tokens that were kept by the employee to be used as long as they were employed there.
Just guessing but the letters may be to designate a group or department.
Or maybe the 'FB' could be the 'Ford Barn' division of the Ford Motor Co.

They were commonly called 'tool chits' not tokens.

So were the ones at P&WA and I was able to use them at the Boeing Seattle facility when I spent some time there in '69.

I believe there is a good article in the V-8 Time which identifies the various tool tag markings Ford used. I seem to recall that the letters indicated a specific area of the plant and that the plant location was also stamped on the tag. The number was the ID used to associate it with a specific person. Maybe that letter and numbering system was only used in the flathead V-8 era? Your tag may be from an earlier or later time period.

Lawson,
There's a tool check for sale on eBay just like yours. The seller indicates it's from the Highland Park plant.

A few years ago I purchased a Highland Park shield type employee badge with number TA 1063 stamped in it together with four triangular brass tool checks with the same matching number stamped in them on a key type ring. I cant find any reference to what the TA represents. It would seem that the numbers on the tags are employee numbers. Regards, Kevin.

The FB 933 tool check (or one with the exact number) sold on ebay last month. I was hoping the seller had info too because I have FB 939. There are no matching badges to indicate where it might be from. I have the badge book as well and looked for anything that could be FB and didnt find anything.

The TA is Tank Assembly. They built Sherman Tanks in Highland Park during the war
