Yikes! I kind of forgot about this thread. Things like "life" got in the way I suppose.
Here's a little "catch up" on how this project is proceeding. Time to dedicate to it has been sparse recently. However, I have managed to get a number of things completed.
The dash, steering wheel, column, all window bezels, etc. are done.

Body has now had the second prime done and for the most part, it's blocked out. One more coat of prime, another block and wet sand should be enough.

THIS...…..is the definition of "Perfection"! This is a convertible Mike did several years ago. This car since sold at a Sotheby's Auction for $165K....and you heard that correctly! This is the car that Mike now jokingly refers to as the one that was docked 1 point, which resulted in a score of 999 because of two tiny pits a judge found on one of the rear axle bells. Kubarth does some nice stuff, no? DD

Today is kind of exciting for me. Sprayed a light guide coat on yesterday and began the wet sand process today. Once I have the entire body sanded out, I'll do another guide coat and repeat the wet sand process.
I sand in four directions which ultimately provides a STRAIGHT body regardless of the angle one may look at it.

Kube….I'm gonna show my possible dumbness here, or at least some long-term memory loss, but do all '40s have that double "hole/slot" at every fender bolt location (as seen in your pic) or is that something you possibly dreamed-up to aid in perfectly aligning the fenders to the requisite "Kubarth Standard"? That's gonna be another "sweetie" straight out of Wisconsin. DD

The nut for the rear fender bolt is on a special clip that is held by the rectangular hole, bolt goes through the round hole. I don't know if other years use this or not. 39 might. 40 is my newest old Ford.

I’m not going to argue that one...lol. Beyond impressive and worthy of a poster size print. Restorations of this level can justify an amount of that caliber. Talent is one thing, it’s when combined with a person that is detail oriented and the willingness to research for days on end that perfection shows. It’s the correct fastener finished correctly and installed in the correct direction.....and so on.

Man, you’re speaking my language. Gray tones with black walls are simple but tough and yet very striking. Ford had so many great darker colors throughout the 30’s and 40’s.
