Murray vs Briggs Hello All; It has been some time since I have participated in Fordbarn mainly due to the fact that I sold my beloved coupe several months ago.
I am in the process of purchasing a 1930 Town Sedan Deluxe that I have known for many years from an old friend. I don't know if it is a Murray or Briggs. How can I tell the difference? |
Re: Murray vs Briggs In 1930
Briggs had a square side window openings. Murray had a curved top on the side window openings. When Ford built the 31 Slant Window, he had Murray and Briggs build the bodies the same so parts were interchangeable. So all slant windows, Murray and Briggs, have the curved top on the side window openings. |
Re: Murray vs Briggs If you have a Macs catalogue, there is a picture. Good luck. Wayne

Re: Murray vs Briggs The top,of the doors on the Briggs are straight, and the Murray has a slight curve on the top of the door
|
Re: Murray vs Briggs Also, if you measure the door openings, on a Murray, front and rear openings are the same. On a Briggs, the front door opening is larger than the rear door.

Re: Murray vs Briggs I wonder if there was any difference in quality between the two. I have both and can't tell any difference but what do I know.

Re: Murray vs Briggs Thanks to all for the information. I will be transporting the car this week. It's about a 350 km journey. I will post a pic as soon as I have the car home. The car is definitely a Murray.
