'40 "resistance unit"
 

Where is the resistance unit as shown in the Ford '40 wiring diagram between the ignition switch and coil. Is that it high on the inside of the firewall on the driver's side ?. Looks like I am going to have to go back to 12 volts in the '40 as the 59L's compression is a little to stout for the 6 volt battery. In the roadster I run 12 volts, and bypassed the ignition ballast I installed as the coil has a built in resistor, and has worked great with the 21A distributor.

Yep, up high on driver side (U.S.) right next to the lighting circuit breakers.

It is part 12250 on the wiring diagram. The circuit breaker and ballast resistor are mounted on the same board.
