1928 Radiator Shell Lacing I looked all over the Internet for pics of properly installed shell lacing but couldn't find any. Does anyone have pics? Where does it terminate at the bottoms and how?

Here are a couple of pictures of the early 28 shell lacing. It is simply cut off at the bottom in line with the bottom of the shell.

Re: 1928 Radiator Shell Lacing Oh man I'm way off. Any chance you have a pic of the upper side where the other shell to radiator screw goes through? I thought it just all ran on the outside the whole way around. I sure appreciate the pics!

Re: 1928 Radiator Shell Lacing You just need the regular old rivet on lacing.

Re: 1928 Radiator Shell Lacing 1 Attachment(s)
This is the replacement lacing on my June '28 survivor phaeton. I replaced the original lacing a few years ago (it was falling apart), following the method of fixing (rivets) that was used on the original lacing that I was replacing. I trimmed the bottom of the lacing flush with the bottom of the radiator surround. The bottom rivet holds it in place well enough. This is the only picture that I have available now, but could take a better one if you want.
(Pardon the rusty water stain - I've since replaced the rad core, but that's another (disappointing) story.) |
