Mitchell cable control

I have a Mitchell OD on order and I am trying to decide between the shift lever and cable control. I like the thought of the cable, for split shifting and because it isn't quite so noticable, but am concerned about how easy the cable operates.
Any of you guys out there have the cable, and can tell me your thoughts?

I have a cable shift and it operates very easy with one finger.

I like the shift lever because I can shift from 2nd-over to hi direct at the same time with one hand.

Have had both; sit in your cockpit (depending on your seat configuration and position) and contemplate where the cable bracket would be attached vs. the extra shift lever on the floor. You may want to select what is easier for you to reach and install.

I have both. In the cars with a cable shift, I like the way I can change from high second to low third so easily. In one of the cars with the stick, I also have the synchro gearbox. With that setup, the same change is even easier - I pull both levers back at the same time by hooking my fingers around both sticks. I don't know how feasable that would be in your LHD cars.
My order of preference over the four cars would be:
1. Synchro gearbox and stick change
2. Standard gearbox with cable change (X2)
3. Standard gearbox with stick shift.

So I guess it boils down to what you like. Maybe you would do well to find someone with a cable shift fitted and ask if you can sit in th ecar and try it. If you are up to a looong walk and an even longer swim, you could try mine!

Re: Mitchell cable control

Thanks for your input. I know from experience that I would prefer the cable as long as it is easy to shift, and it appears it is. Years ago I drove trucks with two, or even three sticks, and also some cable, or air shifters, so I know the challenges. And yes, shifting three sticks is a bear.
