Winton trip in the 33

We are three days into out tour out to Winton, spent last night at a rest area, next to the coal train lines
The trains have about 110 wagons. And go all night,
The 33 is going great, 52 mph used to be a nice smooth speed to travel at,but after filling with BP fuel that is not labeled but contains 10% ethanol,I had to adjust the timing back 2 deg, next thing smooth speed is 55.
We have about 800klms to go ,driving is nice out here, good roads and not much traffic.
Will have some pics latter

We had a big day today, not that many ks,only about 350, we were the last of our group to leave as we had to stop for an ice cream, about lunch time we stopped for fuel at a small place(Alpha) ,Aussies May know it as the site for the Adani mine, the servo only had 98 fuel so we filled up on that, the 33 went well on it.
About 1/2 hr later we came on one of our group in a 1927 dodge with a split wheel, helped change that but 10 miles down the road he got a flat, helped fix that,we got to our stop for the night about 3 hrs late but had a good day.
We to have a shower and find the batteries are flat in the gas water heater,so no shower tonight.
We have done about 900 klms so far and the 33 is going fine,on the long hills some times there is an engine fume smell inside ,but the engine is nice and strong.
Stopped at a rest stop for the night and there was. Volvo road train ( three trailers)broken down with a leaking heater core, helped fix it ,the driver new our car and had seen us in our home town and on the hiway,he was on the way to Darwin,a long long way.
We have an easy day tomorrow, only a couple hundred ks.

We are at Winton for a few days, all going well, 810 miles so far.
There are quite a few road trains out here, shifting cattle ,and flies by the millions, and grasshoppers.
Another of our group had trouble,a 27 Austin 7 had a wiring burn out , another easy fix.
We have a few days in Winton, and are off to the pub for dinner and to watch the footy.

Where are you staying while in Winton. Park opposite the Tats hotel is a good spot.
You & Carol enjoy your selves.

Keith, yes, we are stopping there,
We are off to the lark quarry today, for those who live elsewhere look this up on th web,it’s very special place.
The ABC are making a movie out here, and the local Mayer wants us to drive our cars through the Main Street this morning ,I don’t think anything to do with the film ,but just for promotional stuff for town.
The 33 has used about 1/8 inch on the dipstick, not bad,
Rob, I did not end up fitting a PCV valve, so that’s why we get the fumes ,nothing to worry about, let’s us know the engine is working.
We spotted this old bus along the way,Wife Carol was not too impressed when I told her I could make a good motor home out of it.

Re: Winton trip in the 33

If I was 10 yrs younger I would do a motor home conversion on one of those,
I,m sure you could get one to go Ok with a strong flathead,
Maybe a smaller bus would be good.
