The original Ford gasket was A-6050-B, it looked similar to the Model B head
gasket but without the steam holes. Not sure what is available now.

I always used the one intended for a Model B Ford.

Re: Police head

The Model B Ford has a stock compression ratio of 4.6:1 which is just a tad more than the stock Model A compression ratio of 4.2:1. So the Model B gasket has no strength advantage. The Model A Police Head has a compression ratio of 5.5:1, so use the head gasket suppliers sell for high compression heads.

The advantage to using the Model B gasket with the Police head is that it more closely follows the combustion chamber edge and seals the steam vent holes. I agree that you should use the one the suppliers sell to go with the heads.

No intention to high jack this thread, should you be on a tour and have a high compression head gasket as a spare and someone with a standard head blew a head gasket could you install that gasket with a standard head and have no fear? and if not to confusing could a normal gasket be loaned to the high compression head owner just to get by?.

There aren’t really high compression gaskets per se. There are A head gaskets and B head gaskets.
