Cluster Gear Identification I am building a 1939 Ford transmission and bought a gear set from a friend. However, when I started to look at the cluster gear end I noticed it was different than the typical 28-24-18-14 gear set. Has anyone seen a cluster gear like this and where do I find a thrust washer for it?

Re: Cluster Gear Identification give us a tooth count and a side view, there is a thrust washer that looks like a bow tie, maybe that fits???

Re: Cluster Gear Identification I've never seen a Cluster like that in any flathead I've pulled apart? Watching to possibly learn something. :D

Re: Cluster Gear Identification The tooth count is 28-24-18-14 too.

Re: Cluster Gear Identification Dunno...possibly used with C91A 7129 E thrust washer. Google it possibly... I have an illustration in my Canadian 'Fast moving Parts catalogue', that looks like it would work in conjunction with your pictured cluster.

Re: Cluster Gear Identification Appears to be the Canadian version of the regular 28-24-18-14 cluster gear, similar to the 8M-7113 gear. The two prongs on the small end use a thrust washer similar to the 8M-7129 with the bowtie shaped opening. You can modify that washer to fit by enlarging the center opening until it fits over the larger prongs on the Canadian gear. I believe you’ll also need the secondary 8M-7128 washer along with it, but you won’t have to modify that one.
