Mallory distributor parts?

Hey all
Curious if anyone has or knows of anyone who has any parts for Mallory distributors.
I have a duel point distributor I need new points, condenser, cap and rotor if possible. I have the Mallory part number for the points as well.
Number 24205
Thanks Patrick Musante

You might check with Jim Linder (Bubba) on YA 11 types for model A or B. The original cast iron model 11 has been obsolete for many years but there were modern versions made. Points show up on flea-pay now and then. Tubman updates and sells the old large case condensers that most Mallory products used. This is an old link.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Jim Linder to respond. He's had one of my Mallory distributors that I sent him to rebuild over two and a half years ago.

He's had some serious health problems. He is only working part time and working through old orders.

Try summit racing equipment. I have the Mallory distributor also, single point and I get the points, condenser, and rotors from them.

Parts may be the roadblock in finishing some project like this. There are more than a few parts that are no longer available for old aftermarket distributors. Do it yourself if you really want to get a project done but a lot of rocks have to be turned over to find Obsolete parts.

I am newer to Model A's and curious as to what the advantage of a dual point system is?

Re: Mallory distributor parts?

There is really no advantage on a 4-cylinder. The more cylinders there are in the engine design, the more it helps to keep the ignition system efficient and fully functional without point float. An eight cylinder engine can use a 4-lobe breaker cam with dual points instead of an 8 lobe cam with a single breaker point set.

There are two ways that dual points can be effective. One is if two coils are used in order to reduce the induction events by splitting them between two coils instead of one but it requires a special dual cap to take advantage of it. This allows for a lot higher rpm if needed.

The other use is similar to the same reason that the Ford front mounted distributor had two sets of breakers. One breaker set can remain open while the other will close behind it to allow for an increase of time that the points can remain open but still allow a coil to charge. This allows the coil to get better saturation at higher rpms.

Coil designs have come a long way since 1932 so most of this stuff was completely obsoleted by the use of electronic breakers and multiple coils, ie one for each cylinder.
