1934 inner fender question.

Upon fitting my inner fender panels on my 34 today I have come across a problem.
The panel that fits under the radiator and fixes to the inner fender panel.
I have looked at many pictures of this junction all of which show 2 bolt fixings on each side that join to the inner fender panels.
I have 2 of these panels one of which came from my cabriolet the other ??.
Both of these only have one hole at each end.
I have looked at a never been apart 34 today and that also has only one bolt per end.
This 34 has the inner fender panels with 2 holes 1 of which is unused due to the panel not being drilled.
Were there variations here on the panels over the manufacturing year and was it a case of assembling what was available at the time and leaving the second bolt out if the hole was not there?
Just wondering if any one else has come across this situation.
Thanks
Graham

Graham,

I've noticed the single hole version of that pan, including on NOS pans. I always pass them up as my '33s use the version with two clinch nuts attached to each side. I've no explanation for the two MIA holes in the ones without clinch nuts.

Mikes 34 phaeton [ may car ] has the single hole with 2 holes in the aprons .
Just like the one you looked at .

No explanation here either but I think it is normal .

I have numerous different type aprons and all have both holes .
This includes both types that are 34 only .

Re: 1934 inner fender question.

Thanks (both David's).
This helps to clarify things.
My Cabriolet is a Californian April car.
My body man (30 years ago) must have done some work on the ends of the inner panels and not drilled the holes. He has also shaped the ends in such a way that he has not allowed for the fixings at the end of the panel under the radiator.
This I can rectify by adding a small piece of metal to each panel.
Just wanted to clarify before doing so.
A big thanks guys as always.
Graham
