Andalusite blue

Hi all, My 29 Tudor resto is progressing and I think I might eventually paint it in Andalusite Blue. Does anyone have a pic of a tudor or similiar in this colour?

Thanks,

Gus

I think this is close to what you're looking for.

My 29 phaeton is andalusite over grey primer. After painting the phaeton I learned that Ford used red primer so it does make a slight difference in final appearance.

There was a '29 Tudor on the MARC National Tour in Chattanoga last year. French Gray stripe and black wheels. It was stunning in that blue.

My phaeton is Andalusite Blue... or at least it was when it was painted in 29 and repainted in the 50s. It looks almost black until the sun hits it in the right direction. In trying to match/patch the paint I have had a fair amount of trouble getting the color correct in spite of PPG codes and things of this sort. The patches keep coming out more of a purple than a blue.

Make sure your panels are perfect ! Andalusite is almost black, so it will reveal every flaw...

My 49-A Special Coupe was originally Andalustie Blue, with French Gray stripe.

This was painted Andalusite Blue, very nice in the direct sun. I wish I knew where this car is now...I want it back!

My early 30 Deluxe Coupe is Andalusite Blue body and Black upper body. In the shade the entire car appears Black.

Yeah, I think you're right. It should be darker. That Washington blue sure is pretty though.

Here is a picture of a 1929 Fordor that scored high points in a MARC National Meet in Original Unrestored Class. It is Andalusite Blue and it does look very different in the shade as compared to direct sunlight.

I feel very fortunate to be preserving this car in my collection.

I have a 4dr 170b dlx. The color that I found in the Nason brand is G8952 IF. It is actually a 1989 Peugeot, Arabian Blue Code RB8. It is a very dark blue that looks black in the late pm but is beautiful in the sun light. I drove to Oshkosh and it matches the other cars.

Most of my friends don't think I really have a '29 Coupe, the few that have seen it have called it Lombard Blue, Andulisite Blue, & even Washington Blue??? So, another page on my mystery car, no documented or written history, but a LOT of old pics. Factory code letters are missing after a sub-rail repair! Engine has a great BRASS rebuilder's plate from 1987 & it probably has 50 miles on it, & it runs beautifully. Firestone tires with the NUBBIES still on the tread had GRACEFULLY ROTTED! But it's a really nice car.

Thank you, My Man, I like them as they seem to "belong" on a Model A & were used so widely, even in Chief's day! Many folks think they came that way when the car was new. Bill W.
