Sheared teeth on pinion gear...

...and the ring gear looks suprisingly good.

1950 F1, 2wd, V8

How does that happen?

What gear ratio to put back in?

Original engines still runs. Just getting the truck to run around town and look cool shape.

Thanks!

My 49 F1 has an early 9 inch swap. Pretty much a bolt in. It has 3.70 gears. Seems like a reasonable trade-off.

I thought they were dana 40 rears in 48 to 52?

They don't have alot of value and would be cheaper to swap in a complete used rear. Street rodders usually junk them for 9"

Or do like stated above. I have used 9 " rears out of 1966 and older. I think the direct bolt in is from a 57 to 60.

Same brakes and wheels

44 stamped on the case.

A couple hundred or less for stock ring and pinion plus labor seems pretty reasonable. Wish I had a lift, of course.
