Lowering 32 roadster top

Was there a separate manual included with 1932 roadsters on how to lower and fold roadster tops ? I find it difficult to get it tight enough to install the boot.

There were no top folding instructions included with the Ford open cars until the '35 model year. When you fold a '32 roadster top you need to pull and fold the top material all the way back so that little or none of it remains between the folds in the top irons in the down position.

I never had any instructions for my Deuce but what I found the easiest thing to do is just leave the top off. Mine folds nicely that way. And if I happen to get caught in the rain I just drive faster than the rain drops are falling.

The best way to lower these old tops is with two people. G.M.

Should the rear center section with the rear glass window be unsnapped
first ?

No! Mine is down almost always except for winter storage. It is easier if you have two people although I do mine alone walking from side to side not to do any damage. Dodge is that you?

Leave the rear curtain attached when lowering the top.

Hopefully you have the two original rubber bumpers on the upper back panel on which the rear window rests when the top is down.

I lower mine by myself by standing in the cockpit. Lift it straight up the fold top irons keeping the fabric away from the irons & then when collapsed fold the fabric. putting it up just reverse the process & lift straight up then let it down gently until the holes are over the post of the stanchions.

Thats exactly how I put mine down but I do unsnap the rear prior to lowering my top .
