Splash shields feb 1929

The Jury Standards say for the late '28 and '29 model A Tudor, the splash shields did not taper form the front to the rear, but was straight and bolted at both corners; so, what does that say about the widt at the rear end (top I mean).

Please tell me, I have a problem fitting my fenders

My late 28 should be the same splash apron. I'll hold a straight edge on the vertical part and see if I can measure back to the inner edge.

I'm not sure what you want, but maybe this picture will help.
I slid my small pocket tape back until I felt it hook on something. It must be the apron lip. My straight edge was too long to fit on the vertical side.

Not an easy question to answer in a few word,...okay. Tom, I know were your going.

1. Do you have original fenders and aprons? Or repops?
Original parts..
2. Early 28 aprons,..SOME had a taper/cut-out on the TOP edge, THEY DON'T
HAVE A "HUMP" AT THE REAR FENDER.
3. I think there are 3 styles of later aprons WITH THE "HUMP". The EDGE that bolts to the top of the frame is straight,...that's what the JS's are saying.

Yes ,..ALL the aprons have taper if viewed from the top,..wider at the front
than the rear.

What kind of body work have you done to the car? Post photos!!
All the sedan 29-29 fenders should interchange.

THanks Tom, this helps, assuming you're showing inches.

Exactly what I need. fact: my old repops are only 14 cm at the back measured like you have done. Which is some 5-6 inches. Yours are 7-8 inches. I am missing a little more than 1 inch.

Problem solved !

Don't think so: we are stuck with repop suppliers, not sticking to the jury standards. They deliver early '28 tapered splash aprons with hump to fit our late '28 and '29 cars. Gentlemen the standards are correct ! looking from above the aprons should have a square appearance ! Can't imagine how anybody could ever fit them. Did everybody just throw them away ?

Who's going to make an issue of this ? You won't be able to find correct ones ! Needs to stop !

Just stop thinking about the rear fenders ..... They cannot but be different from the early '28 ones. Everybody tells us they are the same ! Impossible !

I tend to believe issues like these deserve MAFCA involvement !

Thx Tom

Actually straight down from the 6 inch mark pretty well lines up with the vertical part of the apron.
I'll have to use a shorter straight edge and take another picture.

Will you do so Tom ?

Am I thinking wishfully ?

The aprons do stick out of the body don't they ..... Even on the back .....

It was mentions several times in your other thread but did you ever

Thank you Tom,

Finally thanks to you ! Problem solved.

My repop seat riser front is 1,5 cm too wide. My repop splash shields are 2,5 cm too small.

Henk
