I recently viewed a rerun of The Real McCoys and saw the '31 Pheaton (Cal. lic. number LBV 179) used in the series, and am wondering if anyone might know what became of the car?:confused:

Real plate ? Maybe in a show that old, dunno.

They definitely would not be using real plates these days.

But since a long time ago a manufactured phone prefix is used.

That is why 555 is every same prefix in a show/movie.

So not to have any possible link to a real phone number because of sickos out there.

Most old cars were rented/leased from "MovieWorld", near Hollywood which I think was a large prop house, specializing in old cars. Grandpa's phaeton was probably auctioned off years ago. Check the end credits on the Real McCoys for the title "MovieWorld'. The phaeton was the "co-star" in at least one episode, where Gramps backed into something outside his barn and crinkled the right rear fender, then tried to cast the blame elsewhere.

Seems to me I remember seeing an ad for the Real McCoy's phaeton in Hemmings Motor News 20 or 30 years ago.
I remember cutting the ad out, but don't know what became of it.

Movie World, Cars of the Stars and Planes of Fame belonged to Jim Brucker. He was one of many people who rented vehicles to the studios. Both Von Dutch and Ed Roth spent time working there. Movie World has been a thing of the past for over 30 years.

There is a report on the Internet that "Walter Brennan's 1928 Phaeton is in a museum on the west coast.

The year cited might be mis-remembered.
