Drive shaft roller bearing shaft OD

I need to have my drive shaft bearing surface metal sprayed and turned down but am not sure of what size this should be. I understand the worn limit is 1.085". We have one shaft measuring 1.096" - is this the nominal size?

Cheers,
Gavin

Would it be better to just swap it out with another one? Also I would think the original surface would be harden the same as the spindle bearing surface. Will you be able to duplicate that?

RonC there is a metal spray on process that can be applied that is hard. I used it 40 years ago.
it was sold by EutecticCastoline. I think that was the name of the Co. Not an easy prosess. JMHO

Re: Drive shaft roller bearing shaft OD

I have found the bearing surface pitted and unsuitable for the bearing to run on after the driveshaft has been modified to fit a Leycock overdrive. A pity I did not find this earlier. I can always use 1.096" but would prefer to have the original size confimed. Cheers,
Gavin

You might try sending Tom Endy a PM. I think he posted one time about
repairing this area.

Bob C,
Thanks for your suggestion but Tom Endy was unable to help. However, Tom Jordan of Snyders confirmed the 1.096" dimension which is much appreciated.

Cheers,
Gavin

Re: Drive shaft roller bearing shaft OD

Just a side question regarding this bearing ,,has anyone replaced this bearing with a series of say 3 ball type sealed bearings to replicate the same dimension of the original ,,i presume machining of the shaft and T,tube to accomadate the bearing would be difficult ,,
