Transmission syncro ball & springs help!

Is it really possible to replace the 3 balls, springs, and keepers, in a '39-'40 transmission syncro hub, without removing the transmission? I read somewhere it could be done, but how? Probably a dumb question, sry but the obvious answer makes my back hurt.

You may be able to do it if you have the skills to do a valve job through the exhaust pipe.

Ha funny & great answer! That's what I thought, but somebody on here said it WAS possible, I did slid out the keeper and spring on one but installing a new one seems impossible, thanks!

I know they can pop out under certain conditions, but not sure there is a way to get them back in without disassembling the transmittion. Mac VP and Charlie ny would know the answer for sure. If they don't respond here, send them a pm or give them a call.

Thanks, I'm gonna just remove the transmission and send it to Mack VP for a total rebuild, and probably replace the pressure plate and clutch too. I know how to remove the rearend, already done that, so I hope to get it out that way.
