model t ign coil

Just looking for some help i’m a member of the 1950 group just helping a friend with a 1925 model t depot truck he bought this year’s ago says it ran fine i think it needs a little tlc it has a 12 volt battery in it and that’s the way he bought it i’m just looking for a answer if those 6 volt coils can handle 12 volts i can’t find any voltage reducer in the system we had it turning over with a few put puts but before we keep feeding it 12volts i’d just like to know

The magneto put out more than 12-volts. Model T owners use 12-volt batteries more than not. The light bulbs can be changed to 12-volt types.

Magneto can put out over 36 volts AC. The coils work will work fine on 12 volts DC too. However, 12 volts can really put the hammer to the starter Bendix. At some point the Bendix spring may give up.
