New Test Bench "Bubbas" After doing a few hundred early Flathead ignition units , it always seems like there still a whole lot i dont know.
Wally (one of my part timer builders) and i discuss something new almost every week as we get them in and ship out distributors. With the injector business gone from the building we cleaned out that section, painted the floor and moved in some early Ford ignition inventory.Sat i moved one of the computer terminals into this room and addd a Allen Disributor machine etc. This will become over time our test bench to not only spin up the distributor but also run with coil and plug wires while watching every aspect of performance. Using a four channel pico auto lab scope we will be able to see. 1-actual condensor action under load charging and discharging 2-contact point action at all loads and rpms. 3-coil current loads 4-internal coil actions 5-secondary output at the plugs 6-primary current action and control as well as primary coil induction Just to name a few. This is something i have been wanting to do for a while , stay tuned for some live action shots and results, our first testing is to confirm rotor to side cap voltages and correct air gap. ( seems to be our latest problem / discussion around here) http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps90c88ed5.jpg |
