Ford service/Award pin?

2 Attachment(s)
I think this is some sort of Ford Award pin, possibly for years of service in the parts department or for the parts department manager.

Can anyone provide information as to what it was awarded for, and the time frame when it was awarded such as the 50s, 60s, 70s etc. I found it at Iola in 2002 and it is the only one I have seen. It is about the size of a dime, is 10K gold, and has a diamond inserted. I have not seen another or any information about it, does anyone have any information?

Thanks

It looks like it's 10 Carat gold.

May be an award program for employee-suggested part, which resulted in improvement in cost or efficiency. My company did that for years. Union Carbide originally, then Martin Marietta etc.

Re: Ford service/Award pin?

In recent years, years of service were determine by the number of diamonds in the pin.
Yes it is for Ford Service.
There were ones for all of the Departments of FoMoCo.
Men got lapel pins / tie tacks, women got necklaces. Most of the ones that I have seen and collected show the three generations of Ford profiles (used for the 50th Anniversary of the company and commissioned to be done by Norman Rockwell) on a small square. The wording for years of service was listed below the three profiles.
1954-1964
The Ford profile pins that i know about : 10K 25 & yrs 30yrs

unknown years
Henry Ford face: round 10k 30yrs

1944-1948
Ford round (similar to picture) sterling 25 yr

1948-1963
Ford round (similar to picture) 10k 25 yr, 10k 30 yr

recent
Square with Ford oval: 5 yr no diamond, 5yr 1 diamond, 15 yr 3 diamond, 20 yr 4 diamond

Hope that this doesn't confuse.

Thanks for the information, from what you provided, I think you seem to be indicating that the pin is from the period from 1948 to 1963. I have had it for about 19 years since the summer of 2002, therefore I don't think it could be considered recent. It is 10K gold with 1 diamond.

Did a jeweller tell you it was 10 carat gold and the stone was a diamond. I will be surprised especially if it’s a diamond.

The back of the pin says it is 10K (that's how gold jewelry items are marked), further small diamond chips are not expensive in today's market (probably much less in the 40's thru 60's). A small diamond like this one in todays market I would expect to be less than $10. You can look at the stone in the sun and it shows different colors and sparkle like a diamond.

I have a 'service pin' from the company that I worked for and in reality while it was given to me the company owned it. For every 5 years of service I had to turn in the pin and they gave me a pin with a different stone. They did not change the stone just swapped out the pin.
