Vacuum Brake on a Crab

On a rebuilt crab distributor, the piston seems a little sticky in the bore. How easy should the piston move? Should the piston be lubed or stay dry? There was some grease on the leather pad; what should that lube be?

How do you adjust the brake to retain a light damping of the breaker plate?

Check this link to Bubba's Ignition. The piston should move freely and be lubed. Look closely at the distributor that Bubba built for me, and you will see that he uses a liberal amount of HI-temp grease on the piston, leather and points rub blocks. The info in the link describes the piston adjustment.
