Sanford & Son Pickup Truck

What year was the pickup truck in the sitcom. Was it a 1951 or 1952? The internet has it listed as either year depending upon what website you visit.

No separate F O R D letters and hood spears make it a 51 if I recall correctly

Why does it have vent windows in it now?I use to watch the show and know for a fact there was no vent windows in truck.

Re: Sanford & Son Pickup Truck

NBC had the windows removed to reduce glare from the studio lights while filming. The truck is being used as a driver now....

There was no back glass either. As said this was done for filming purposes.

Greetings Barn... This is a good topic to use to introduce myself... I’ve been a long time reader but only recently became a member. This forum has been a life saver to me on so many occasions - I’m deeply grateful. I’ve owned several oldies over the years... 1946 Ford Super Deluxe, 1954 Chevy Bel-Air, 1962 Chevy C-10 Stepside, 1963 Pontiac GrandPrix (may have to get another some day), 1966 C10 Custom and a 1967 C10. My current “tinker toy” is the 1951 Ford F1 Five Star Extra Cab, stock except the wheels and tires - which is the same model year as the truck in Sanford and Son.
Now that I’m a member I can share what I’ve learned over the years - as well as give back what was given me by the Barn... a greater flathead knowledge and courage to tackle the job cuz “you can’t really break it.”

1951 and 1952 Ford F Trucks - How to tell them apart? These two models are virtually the same to look at, and most people don't know the differences between the two models. On the 1951 model, the FORD name is part of the trim on the Hood and the V8 sign is attached to the body panel that joins the two front fenders. On the 1952 model, the name FORD is now in Block Letters and has moved down to the body panel, and the V8 emblem has moved up to the front of the Hood. I hope that these two pictures help you identify these two similar models next time you come across them.
