Which suppliers attend Hershey ?

I know Berg attends Hershey, who else in the Model A parts world is there? How about Brattons or Berts? Seems like a good place to pickup expensive to ship items (springs, heads, tyres, drums, muffler, seat springs, etc.) to save on shipping and sales tax.

Not Brattons or Berts. Snyder's used to show but with little inventory.
Paul Ellis is usually in the Chocolate field; Smith & Jones in the Red.

Someone with an old directory can tell what "used to be" because it is indexed by type parts. Doesn't mean it will be in the future! Things is a changing!!

Therein lies the problem in that all vendors (-business or hobbyist alike) must charge for, and collect PA sales tax even if their residence is outside of PA. It stopped me from vending there. II know some hobbyists choose to disregard collecting sales tax however a business has too much to lose in the deal. Most businesses will now just set-up and either take orders or show merchandise.

That is EXACTLY what I do. I have a sample board to show and take orders/ leave contact information! I'm not about to collect and remit tax or sit there with the stuff all day long. I can make more $$ in the shop than "baby sitting" a bunch of parts.

What if the vendor gets paid before Hershey even starts? And they just deliver the items to Hershey for pick-up.

Re: Which suppliers attend Hershey ?

Nope, point of sale for sales tax is where they physically transfer from buyer to seller. The only way to avoid sales tax is an out of state vendor (out of the destination state) puts goods on a common carrier (PO, UPS FedEx, truck) and it gets delivered to you.

And, some states have a streamlined sales tax that says you should send a computed tax to your state. How bout them apples!!!

I think A&L usually is there.

Bill is pretty telling it like it is.

The only thing, and I am emphasizing ONLY as a possibility is if a broker is going to be handling the shipping out of the country, that might help you save the PA tax but then you have export tax. The last I recall was that PA's tax was 6%.

Re: Which suppliers attend Hershey ?

Though I have never been to Hershey, and thought I wanted/needed to go at one point, with the Pa. sales tax added on top of all other expenses I'll have to say 'naw' about going there. The desire has gone away.

I have a problem paying some state tax money 'just because' they decided to stick it to you. Iowa charges sales tax on auction items. I stopped attending them years ago over there.

There are still better options out there we don't need that.

I was at Hershey a few years ago and was looking for Snyder's. I found them on Friday morning and they were packing up to leave. I was told that they come to deliver a few parts that were ordered previously but don't bring a lot of inventory.

Tam's brings his mobile operation to Hershey. He is located in the Chocolate Field.
Joe always has a good inventory of parts with him.

Thanks to the guys who are actually trying to answer the question asked, it's information I'm interested in too. Maybe you folks bitching about the sales tax could start your own discussion.

Forgot about Vanessa with BJ's

A great source of new AND used parts. Be sure and visit her in the Chocolate South.

Even with the lack of the larger dealers because of the sales tax hassle there are still plenty of small time dealers and hobbyist who can supply you with what you need. I have yet had one of these guys ask for tax money.

Schwalm's.

Others include;
A&L, Don Roberts, BJ's, Gaslight (I think), Ron's machine shop. NuRex. That's what I can think of right now. Plenty of used parts dealers too.

Snyder's has had a table handing out catalogues the past few years but no parts.

Still the greatest show on earth.
