30 Tudor vacuum wiper 2 Attachment(s)
I need to obtain some wisdom on how a vacuum windshield wiper attaches to a 30 Tudor. The car we are working on had an electric windshield wiper jury-rigged onto the header. We plan to install a vacuum wiper. The vacuum lines are still intact. If someone knows how it attaches I would appreciate the schooling. Photos would also help.
We have replaced the wood header and bead-blasted the metal header that fits in front of the wood. The metal header does not appear to have been molested with extra holes. I don't see any factory holes where a vacuum wiper was once installed at the factory. The metal header is not yet permanently attached. Tom Endy |
Re: 30 Tudor vacuum wiper Tom, it attaches with two screws to the windshield frame and the slot in the header filler is where the control falls so it can open and close with the opening of the windshield . The hole for the wiper hose comes through the large hole in the windshield frame closest to passenger. Two small holes are for mounting with I believe 10-32 screws. I may be wrong in size ....

Re: 30 Tudor vacuum wiper Many thanks to Bob and Larry. The chart was a big help. I was able to determine that the windshield frame has not been molested with extra holes. I now understand how it all goes together on a 30 Tudor. It is completely different than the one on my slant window Victoria. The trick now is to locate a Trico vacuum wiper motor. There was a guy in New York a few years ago that offered repair services, does anyone know if he is still around?

Re: 30 Tudor vacuum wiper Tom
You are welcome and thanks ... it is ficken wiper service. Not sure what their number is but my suggestion is to try and find a trico kcx1 wiper motor. They are the later manufactured trico units to replace the original closed car units. They show up on eBay now and then . Prices are usually 75-175 ish. Find a good one in the box if you can. Larry |
