Forum Name It is pretty obvious how some of us chose our name for this forum but others are a bit more curious, even cryptic, I expect so I thought it might be interesting to ask people to explain how they chose theirs. I'll kick it off with mine, "Synchro909". Firstly, the 909 part is because someone else had used Synchro. A few years ago, I wanted to get a dog and had ideas about it accompanying me on rallies etc in my A. Now, we all know that these cars have a crash gearbox and I wanted to be able to honestly tell people that I had Synchro in the car so I name the dog "Synchro". He also answered to Psycho! Maybe with a "creative truth" like that I should have been in politics. The kicker was, the dog wouldn't have anything to do with any of my old cars. Dumb dog!:D

Re: Forum Name CarlG, there was already a Carl on this forum, thus adding my last initial. (Also worked for me when I was in 6th grade and there were 2 guys named Carl my same class.) Geesh, seems like that was a hundred or more years ago.

Re: Forum Name Someone called me this in the early 70's when they ask me if I was related to ZZ TOP.
It stuck with me every since. Go figure. |
Re: Forum Name Joe K because that is short for my name.
Some have commented on my sig-line - which expresses both my thought on the Model A (it can be frustrating) and the attractiveness and willful reliability of a good equine in comparison. Joe K |
Re: Forum Name Fun thread Synchro...
Along with Model A's I enjoy Ford's first OHV Y-8 (1954-64) known affectionately as a Y-Block because of the shape of the block when looking head on with the deep skirts that go past the centerline of the crankshaft hence Y-Blockhead... https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8735/...7f8ef170d2.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7410/...8477cba761.jpg |

Re: Forum Name My forum name ain't too cryptic. The sound of that horn was the initial cause of my infatuation with the Model A.
When I was learning piano around the age of 10, a bloke in our neighbourhood used to drive his dark blue Tudor down the hill and past our house every morning at 8 AM. It was his daily driver. He would always give a blast of the horn as he went through the intersection just up from home. Not sure exactly what he thought this would achieve!! Would everyone else stop and let him through?? Maybe he had no brakes? I'd be practising the piano in our front room and would rush to the window to watch this wonderful car go past our house. My first modification to my very first car ('69 Toyota Corona) was to install a repro klaxon under the hood. I also have a friend whose name is Stuart Warner (wrong spelling, I know!). |
