Correct wheel color? First question, where do I get a copy of the restoration guidelines and judging standards?
Second question, I have a 1930 standard Fordor in Andalusite Blue. I know the stripe color should be Aurora Red but should the wheels be that as well? I thought I read on a thread somewhere that only deluxe cars had the wheels painted the same as the stripe color but I can't seem to find it. I'm planning to rebuild the front axle this winter and figure it will be a good time to get the wheels refinished in either black or red depending on what is correct. |

Re: Correct wheel color? If you paint the wheels black you know they will have the correct color.

Re: Correct wheel color? You may want to get the book , The Model A Ford, by De Angeles, Henry, Francis. Wealth of info.

Re: Correct wheel color? Thanks, everybody. I'll order a copy of the standards tonight. I tried the search with different keywords and it seems that stripe colored wheels became an option in June 1930 (which is when my car is from) but only on deluxe cars. Looks like I'll be sticking with black wheels which suits me just fine.

Re: Correct wheel color? As a general rule the wheels were colored the same as the pin stripe.

Re: Correct wheel color? According to the MARC website it says gray was dropped in early 30 and switched to red until August. Near as I can tell my car is a June ‘30. There is an Andalusite blue January ‘30 Tudor in our club with the gray stripe.
