66 T-bird power seats I picked up a set of 66 T-bird power seats for my kustom, and haven't had a chance to see if the power seat works or not yet. If not is there another power system that could be used in its place, or is there a way to convert it to manual instead?

Re: 66 T-bird power seats The power mechanisms are likely pretty much the same between the 1964/65/66 T-birds. When I had a 64, I didn't have any problem keeping them working but getting switches and motors could be problematic in this time frame. I haven't had to look for quite a few years for this stuff but there are parts sources for them. A person needs to ID the power source wires and get a good circuit protective fuse or circuit breaker set up to use them. They do draw some amps when in operation.

Re: 66 T-bird power seats I recently bought some seat mount parts from Pat Wilson's T-Bird shop in New Jersey, as they sell used parts along with new parts for these cars. You should find them with google easily. The guy at Wilson's will tell you EXACTLY what you can or can't convert or and what parts you'll need.
With the manual seats there are inner and outer seat rails, a couple of springs on each side and (if you want them) skirts that will cover the rail assemblies. I feel fortunate that my '65 has no power seats, windows, door locks or remote trunk release, so I understand your desire to change over. |

Re: 66 T-bird power seats I think he's looking for '66 rails, not '56. Also, for the used seat parts I purchased, Pat Wilson's seemed pretty reasonably priced. It's worth a call.
