Old junk found in our cars I was working on my doors today when I discovered that I had not found all the evidence of the previous owner. Seems as if the doors must have been used as oversize glove boxes. Today's find was all from the fifties. Match books & boxes, a pack of Pall Malls, trading stamps, receipts for the dump, hunting tags, gas receipts, a safety razor and hiring paperwork from the Ca. Forestry Dept. The paperwork for the Forestry Dept. belonged to an old family friend. This stuff had been in there for at least 60 yrs. Just more evidence to show how something as ordinary as an old truck can effect our lives. It was fun to unfold the papers and take a look into the past. Anyone else find these kind of things in their cars and trucks?

Re: Old junk found in our cars The back seat of my '37 must've been used as a small motel room.
Use your imagination... |
Re: Old junk found in our cars I had a 40 standard 4 door that had been used around an army base (camp Croft in Spartanburg, SC) as a taxi-lots of combs, small coins, knives and some of what uncle max was talking about--still have the coins and knives-let the rest go to trash

Re: Old junk found in our cars I had an experience like Uncle Max had with a '39 Tudor I had in High school. ...Or was the the next owner ?

Re: Old junk found in our cars I suspect some of those items aren't needed by the original purchasers anymore.

Re: Old junk found in our cars My favorite was a wheat penny that fell through the floor next to the back seat and got lodged in the top of a friction shock.

Re: Old junk found in our cars old business cards from a restaurant with a telephone number format from long ago. I could just imagine the joint was either a candle lit table with a big band on stage or a drunk draped over a bar counter. I prefer the former.

Re: Old junk found in our cars When we bought the '39 LZ I found out information about the original owner, he was a Doctor on the East end of Long Island and during WWII he was an Air Raid Warden. I found what's in the photo under the back seat...

Re: Old junk found in our cars Mart,
Previous owner must have been pretty busy. They're not even in alphabetical order...just kept adding them in. |
Re: Old junk found in our cars The doors of a 32 roadster were completely filled with Sept. Oct.1956 Austin newspapers. One add said come on down to Capital Chevy for the first views of the 57 Chevy.
