32 light switch I searched the forums but could not find the answer. What keeps the switch from turning 360 degrees and winding up the horn wire at the bottom of the switch rod?

Re: 32 light switch The light switch only turns maybe 30 degrees and is limited by in innards.

Re: 32 light switch The switch has a stamped key that fits into a cut out on the mounting that is attached to the bottom of the steering box. The key should not move out of the cutout. Sometimes the key is not fully formed, in the stamping process, or the cut out can be too large allowing the key to leave the cut out.

Re: 32 light switch Thanks for the replys. I assume something on the switch plate keeps the spider from turning more than 30 degrees. I was trying to figure out what that was. Mine will turn 360 with the body and everything in place. I guess something is messed up on the plate. I see a piece on the back of the three pronged switch plate that moves but can't tell how it works.

Re: 32 light switch The light switch internals (as shown in #2 & #4 postings above) limit the rotation of the horn switch and spider. You should not have 360 degrees of rotation.

Re: 32 light switch Is your switch repro or original? The repros are crap.

Re: 32 light switch I assume original. I have had car since 71, have not driven since 77, trying to get it back on the road.

Re: 32 light switch The only time my light switch would turn 360 degrees is when the two halves of the switch housing were not closed all the way. Make certain that everything is aligned and the bail is snapped into correct position. Good luck, Pat
