My Engine Project 2 Attachment(s)
Some of you might have been following my recent threads detailing my engine build. Today I finished my internal assembly and painted everything.

Re: My Engine Project You are going to paint it Ford green, correct?
|
Re: My Engine Project It is ford green, it is just the lighting that threw it off.

Re: My Engine Project Ford Engine Green actually had some variability. Not necessarily made from "tailings" like the floor boards are reported (actually the floor board drawings specify an actual color) the color supply was sufficiently variable so that presently, restorers are encouraged by the Standards to "match" colors on Ford Engine Green components. The thinking being that all components were typically painted "together" and there shouldn't be any variability between say a valve chamber cover and the engine proper.
Dare I say given today's color technology, the color from a single paint source is probably "beyond close." And better than it was "in the day." Joe K |
Re: My Engine Project I wonder if it was actually true that they mixed spare paint to create the batch (probably not). I mix my own paint custom based on the MAFCA paint book. I am happy with the way this came out.

Re: My Engine Project Great job!

Re: My Engine Project The shade of green has no effect on how well it goes down the road.

Re: My Engine Project A question for everybody: I have a nice exhaust manifold but somebody knocked out the bosses behind the bolts, probably after they broke. Is it even usable anymore?

Re: My Engine Project Purdy

Re: My Engine Project Has that head been welded and/or repaired? It looks a little uneven near the front.
|
Re: My Engine Project That does look good! I'd say job well done.
|
Re: My Engine Project That is a new 6:1 head. I just set it on top of the block to paint it.
|
Re: My Engine Project I've seen some engines painted red
|
Re: My Engine Project The paint looks good , probably better than original . The head and water jacket look like they got painted , color sanded and recoated for a better finish than originally applied when new .

Re: My Engine Project The manifolds share mounting boss lugs with the intake manifold. They are like a half of a bolt boss with no complete bolt hole. This is a carry over from the model T in a way. If the lugs are not there then neither the exhaust or the intake manifolds will be properly secured to the engine.

Re: My Engine Project Bet you can't wait to hear it purrrr!
