Try NAPA, they have 4 listed or Interstate Battery Co. I buy my 6 volt batteries from Interstate, they have good quality and a large selection.

Rual King...Tractor Supply... Group one battery..they last me at least 5 years.

I always put my battery's on a 1 amp maintainer in the winter.. always last 5 years or more. Rual King usually has the best price.

Re: 6 volt battery

Online look up a Group 1 battery for 6 volts.

9 1/8 length, 7 1/8 width, 9 3/8 height

6v group 1 batteries are found by the following numbers;

NAPA - BAT 7244
Exide - 7200
Tractor supply - Com 1 HP (part number 0470506) I think.
Autozone - 1-6 volt
Ultrapower #901MF from Deka
interstate part # 1-VHD

The internet search should provide you with parts stores that carry what you need.

I found one at a local CarQuest, but next time I'm just going to Rural King. They have the best pricing around here. Like JFranklin said, any tractor shop has them.

Re: 6 volt battery

Being as the battery is out of sight , I chose to convert to 12 volt . No wires need to be changed as long as it remains positive ground . I replaced the coil with a 3 OHM flame thrower coil rather than having to use a resistor at the coil connection . This is a very simple conversion . I did have to replace all of the bulbs but that's no big deal .

Re: 6 volt battery

I am thinking of an Optima battery for this sport coup I'm working on, someone installed juice brakes on it and put the master cylinder where the battery goes, but there is enough room to put one of these upside down in about the location where the orginal went, what have been your experences with these an d will they work fine on the generator and cut out.

Thanks

Re: 6 volt battery

I got 16 years out of last optima, using generator, and halogen headlights, never use maintainer, just drive at least every 6 months--- the charge rate has to be set for YOUR use, I drive a lot at night, for me 14 amps allows me to drive as much as I want at night,
