Socket and bulb for gauge cluster where to buy?
 

Hello,

I am restoring Ford truck gauge clusters.

I am looking for a source for the sockets and bulbs as used in 1940 to 1947 gauge cluster trucks.

I am contacting the contacts and see what they come up with.

In the meantime I (think I) did find some on the auction site looking for "VINTAGE GAUGE DASH LIGHT SOCKET REPAIR X6 Pc KIT RAT ROD HOT TRUCK SUN TACH LITE"
They have the correct diameter so ... maybe.

One thing to remember when restoring old cars is the fact that a lot of this type of parts were not made in house. Outside suppliers sold sockets and bulbs to many different builders for many different applications, so always look farther and wider than seems apparent.

The owner, Gene, is a old car guy. Comes on occasion to a Saturday morning coffee and donuts get together I go to. Always willing to help and share what he knows. I've been to his shop and the wiring harness production they do is amazing.

In post #1 the bulb socket does not appear to be correct for 1940. Similar and may work.

I do not know what 1940 bulb sockets have to look like. The bulb socket in the picture is from a King Seeley speedometer based 1946 cluster.

How did you notice the difference? What is different?
