Rarity of a 30-31 Blindback
 

So, I got this idea about a year ago that I really needed a 30-31 Briggs Blindback. It's beginning to look like these cars are as rare as the proverbial hen's teeth. Other Model A's that are supposedly rare show up on the evil eBay all the time. I have passed on two projects needing a complete restoration, one in Chicago and the other in Oregon, thinking something better would come along. Both sold reasonably, indicating that there may not be as much of a demand as compared to other fairly scarce, but pricey cars like Victorias, Woodies, Cabriolets, and the like.
This isn't a want ad, as I am aware of the classified section a click away (and have tried it twice). I just want to know if there are any out there? I hate to think I need to buy the next pig to come along just to score a car. Thanks for your input on my rant, and feel free to post a pic of your car just to taunt me.

I saw one and half for sale on CL out here. It was just the body though so you would have a serious project on your hands.:)

You know , i did not know how rare the early 1930 Standard Briggs Blindback was until i got it home.. 5000 were made and the last one was in April ,1,1930.I am glad it was complete and unrestored except the paint job.

My brother restored one in the 70's from parts. We got the body out of a barn where it was stored after the owner made a cut down tractor from the chassis. We had to cut trees to get the body out. He spent 14 years restoring it, then swapped it for the original roadster he now drives.

ah ok well i have just got my first model a its a 1929 model a fordor i believe its a briggs body, saw that it was called a steel back in the macs catalog just wanted to know the diff :)

A good friend of mine has a 160-C "slant window blind back" that he restored about the same time I restored my 190-A Victoria. We live in the same town. I don't think eaither car are rare, though.

Actually the 160c is a rare car and said to be the 2nd rarest Model A passenger car built, The number is approx 2700 BUT that also includes the 170b so we believe the exact number to be around 2100.

I bought a 1930 Blindback about 6 years ago. Has 50k original miles, good original interior. Car was originally painted maroon, however the owner painted the car grey with a red stripe.
I am happy with it just they way it is painted. After I had the engine rebuilt, went through all the rest of the car and put it on the road.
Fun car to drive but I need to replace the original windows with safety glass.
