Need help!!! Please!! Friends are on their way to Lexington for the national. They are on Route 940 in Hazel Township, PA.
PROBLEM: Unable to shift as the clutch is staying engaged. Inspection plate was removed and they can see the throw out bearing engaging the fingers of pressure plate but it stays there. Any ideas short of pulling the motor? Thanks for your time. Joe Grobleski |
Re: Need help!!! Please!! Broken clutch release arm?
|
Re: Need help!!! Please!! They said the release arm is good as is the linkage under the car.

Re: Need help!!! Please!! if they cant get it going and need a place to bring it, my shop is a little distance but should be within reach if they have AAA 100 miles free plan. i can hold it for them, they can fix it there themselves or buy time until they figure things out. just an option i am throwing out there

I gave them your business phone but see you are only open M-F. Would you want to share a home phone number via private message? |

Re: Need help!!! Please!! Hi Cape Codder, my pedal also was sticking where it did not come back all the way, a little lube on the shaft did the trick for me. Spray it through the inspection hole and from the outside. I used WD-40.

Re: Need help!!! Please!! the release arm may look OK until the pedal is fully depressed. this is a two person inspection. Check from the top and underneath.

Re: Need help!!! Please!! Want to thank everyone that responded. They are waiting for a flat bed to arrive and take it to Philadelphia for repair. Was told that its the pressure plate or clutch plate. Sure sorry for him as this is his first National Meet.
Again, thanks for your input. Joe Grobleski Cape Codder |
Re: Need help!!! Please!! The pin could be sheared on the throwout fork inside the bell housing, that would probably be the worse case. I've had the outer release arm to crack and cause this problem. It usually takes two people and a light to detect.

Re: Need help!!! Please!! i talked to them on the phone. the pedal is good not stuck on the floor and the bearing moves full travel and depresses the fingers. sounds like the clutch

Re: Need help!!! Please!! its supposed to get towed to my shop and the gentleman can use one of my lifts and fix it himself on monday if he wishes. i have enough parts in stock to get him going. maybe he'll spend the weekend touring the city of brotherly love

UPDATE::
they had AAA -- 200 miles free so we were 125 miles from where they broke down. i met them at the shop very nice people, they were going to their first nat'l meet. they decided to rent a car and continue on and hook up with their friends that are in their A's and go to lexington. well all the local rental comp's are closed so i drove them to philly int'l airport with luggage in tow to enterprise. i offered my shop to him but they want me to fix the truck while they are gone next week and pick it up next sun or monday on the way home. he said no warning or slipping just wont disengage. its a v-8 clutch with a lightened flywheel. i will check all the linkage and pins etc. the owner thinks i should pull the engine but we will access it by pulling the rear. tom screw the train ill fly you in i have plenty of work for you here. thanks for the thumbs up but were all one big family. here is a pic of the truck it's real nice i told him to just leave it here, but since he learned how to drive with that truck i doubt that will happen (amazing) |
