this block seems to have a 1948 casting date and quite a few differences most significant of which is much heavier casting around H2O jacket. has anyone run across these before ? I didn't realize they were still being made that recent...I don't think its from outside US but suppose its possible?

Thanks....thought those GAZ engines had shell bearings...must be confusing it for something else
