Fuel Gauge Seal Leak Test

I had a bad leaking fuel gauge seal recently that leaked gas into the cab of my Model A. It wasn't just a drop or two but a considerable amount that ran down the dash under the instrument panel and made a puddle on the carpet. I am grateful I didn’t ignite it. I cleaned up the mess and replaced the seal. I haven't refilled that tank yet. I am asking if there is an recommended way to test the fix of the new seal besides filling the tank with gas and making a mess again in the cab if the I didn't get it right. What would you suggest? I’m a little shy about doing this and finding it didn’t work. Thanking everyone in advance.

If you don’t want to fill with water, double gaskets under the fill cap, adapt to the shut off valve and with air pressure use soapy water and leak check. Regulate the air pressure 5#

If you use the cork gasket set with the brass washers you have virtually no chance of a leak.
