I wonder what happened to all those Model A's, that we see in these old tv flicks. Probably stuck away in Universals, Warner Bro's sheds somewhere.

One Model AA I sure would like to find was the "Oxmobile" that Henry Ford gave to Ezra Meeker in 1928 so he could traverse the Oregon Trail one more time. However Ezra passed away before the trip and who knows what happeded to the Oxmobile.

Just the other day there was an episode of "Green Acres" on the Antenna TV network, in which Eb bought a beautiful all black 1930-31 Deluxe Roadster with red wheels for $350. I remember seeing that episode years ago when the show was new and lusting after the car (not "Lisa Douglas"). Back when this episode was first-run, one didn't see roadsters on the street very often where I grew up. So, this was a special episode for me year after year in re-runs until I actually got a Deluxe Roadster of my own. Then the charm of this episode wore off a little. 'Still nice to see a restored Model A in the mid-1960's with original parts, before the repo industry took over.

I just lost antenna TV.I don't watch much of it anyway,but that was the station I liked to watch.I just get a little sign on the screen that says,local broadcast,no longer available.

A little off-topic, but still related to this thread: Is it just my perception or have networks like Antenna TV, THIS, and ME TV been cutting down program length recently and inserting more commercials? I could have sworn that now some of my favorite scenes are missing from Perry Mason and other shows that were included last time they ran on these networks. I don't include TVLAND in this list because that network has always been more commercials than program. "We interrupt this commercial to bring you a program" should be their motto. As an avid re-run watcher from the "old days" (I watch NOTHING new on TV except documentaries!), I know where scenes have been deleted from these old favorites just to add another Preparation H and feminine hygiene product commercial, of which I will be buying none. Grumble, grumble, grumble..

I don't think its your imagination. I see old reruns that contain commercials for stair stepper exercise machines, vacuum cleaners and lots of other things that I swear the commercials are two or three times the length of a normal commercial. I wonder how they compress the content, but I swear there are more and longer ads than the original shows had! They probably do edit out content entirely.

Back in the day, a 30 minute show had a 'running time' of 27 minutes. Today's broadcast TV shows have a running time of 22 minutes. That's 5 extra minutes of commercials right there. Plus, ads are superimposed on top of the picture to tell you what's on next, tomorrow, and next week!

You can bet the old 27 minute shows have been pared down!

Sometimes the shows are sped up a small bit, rather than cutting content.

I was thinking there must be a way to digitally do that and have it seem "normal".

But, to get somewhere near 5 minutes out of 27, you'd have to cut some content or it seems that you'd notice it being sped up.

Dang advertisers any way.

I dropped direct tv 4 years ago, got tired of paying 80.00 month for a commercial every 5 minutes. Heck there should be a revolt, if you pay for the service it should be commercial free... I do Netflix and Amazon and couldn't be happier, I rarely watch network TV either for the same reason, most the shows that are on I never saw because I was working two jobs..
