Muffler inlet-outlet Took my dual exhaust system off, took pictures prior to removal and had them loaded on my computer with all my other pictures and lost everything, YES, now learned the hard way to back up.
Don't know which end is which, if infact is there a difference ?, think I've seen mufflers marked inlet/outlet . Only markings is model #HOF7055 but Google brings up nothing. Anyone have any idea if it makes a difference, see picture here, both are 2" ID / 2 1/8"OD, connection points are off set to one another. Picture wont attach |
Re: Muffler inlet-outlet usually on the inlet side of the muffler you will see a bunch of serrations that look like small louvers, the rounded part of the serrations point to the inlet side of the exhaust gases. I have run the mufflers both ways, all it does id create a little more back pressure and changes the sound of the muffler, usually louder, if the mufflers are oval or flat make sure the seam id down, in case of a blown muffler the hot gasses will not hit the floor boards of the body, if you have a glass pack muffler to look at tou will see the louvers im talking about
