Rubber pads for tail lamp and head lamp stands.

I searched and see that most do not like using the aftermarket rubber pad between the stand and fender. Is that also the general consensus about using pads on the headlamp bar to fender? Mainly concerning grounding issues.

I use one layer of clear shipping tape cut to the shape of the foot print to protect the paint. Works well and cannot be seen. It is also very inexpensive.

Pads protect the paint. Paint doesn't conduct anyway. If grounding is your concern, run a wire between each headlight conduit and the forward hood latch screw. Hose clamp at conduit and #10 ring lug (solder) and star washer at the other end.
