Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons Anyone send me a pic of the short piece of windshield trim that ws wiper switch go's through on your convert or wagon? I have misplaced mine during resto and want to know if I can make one from a ws molding off tudor. Just need length, does piece go under or over other 2 moldings. I think it had holes for screws to go through also but cant remember. Anyway, if I can get pic for some idea it would be helpful, thanks!

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons If you are looking for he small trim clips that hold the top and bottom of the windshield devision trim, I haven't found any. I needed both for my '47 convertible, and made my own. They hold both ends of the garnish with one screw. It was tricky, as I had to match the wood grain of the trim. Otherwise they can just match the dash color.

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons I think this picture of the piece was posted on my thread instead of yours accidently.

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons Sorry about that. Haste makes mistakes. Thanks for correction.

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons The inner windshield trim piece on my '46 Ford Station Wagon, is one piece, that has the hole for the wiper switch and also captures both the passenger and drivers side interior windshield trim. I don't have the type that Gary shows.

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons Thanks for your feedback guys. If I remember correctly mine was more like woodiewagon46 style. DAMN, I put this piece somewhere where it would not get lost! Now its lost!

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons 46, mine on the '47 is 1.75 inches long. Wonder if you could make one from a piece of stainless molding. Since it's held in place by the wiper control, no screws needed.
Stainless wouldn't have to be woodgrained and by the time you finish, your original might suddenly appear..... "it's around here summers!!" |
Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons Thats pretty much my plan. Was hoping to find a junk ws moulding, cut it to length and drill hole for wiper. I agree, by the time I finish mine may show up

Keeping fingers crossed. Can't tell you how many times I put stuff away from a major project and even labeled the jar/can/box and I'll be damned if I know where the heck it is. Very frustrating in my old age!! "Know it's around here summers!"...my wonderful great grandfathers favorite saying....and I worshiped him when I was 4 years old in 1947!!! |
Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons If you go to the link below you will see how I made my centre piece , it is shown just below the painted grille, it may not be correct but then I didn't know what it was supposed to look like, it worked for me.

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons like others I wound up making the one on my 'vert.

Re: Center piece of windshield molding for converts and wagons I also made the one for my 47 vert. Looked just like the one in Gary's picture. 'Course, shortly after, a previous owner contacted me, and sent me the original one for my car. You all know how that works. Anyway, I never did put on the original one, as the one I made looked just as good.
